Free choice repertoire refers to any piece or movement of the competitors choosing, either unaccompanied or with piano accompaniment
Possible Extra Assessments
Baroque
Any piece or movement written between 1650 and 1750. The chosen piece can be used for the main category as well as for the baroque assessment, or a separate piece can be chosen. However, it is not possible to only apply for the baroque category and not apply for any of the main categories (age groups I, II or III).
Contemporary Music
Any piece or movement written between 1900 and 2020. The chosen piece can be used for the main category as well as for the contemporary assessment, or a separate piece can be chosen. However, it is not possible to only apply for the baroque category and not apply for any of the main categories (age groups I, II or III).
New Zealand Composer
Any piece or movement written by a New Zealand composer. For more information or repertoire suggestions please refer to the SOUNZ website. The chosen piece can be used for the main category as well as for the contemporary assessment, or a separate piece can be chosen. However, it is not possible to only apply for the baroque category and not apply for any of the main categories (age groups I, II or III).
